“Bread”fast Egg Bowl 🍳 早餐鸡蛋面包碗

A mighty delicious, quick and easy recipe that you can prep ahead of time and simply pop into the oven in the morning!

I find hamburger rolls best for this, but the ever-popular brioche buns will just be as tasty. Genius way to use up stale buns too!

Ingredients

  • 4 Buns, anything u prefer
  • 4 Eggs
  • 4 slices of Cheese
  • 2 tbsp Bacon bits/ Ham, diced
  • 1 tbsp Chives, chopped
  • 4 tbsp Shredded Cheese, of choice (I used red cheddar & mozzarella)
  • Season with salt & pepper as needed

Method

Preheat oven to 180C

  1. Slice of the top of buns, carve a circle with a spoon or knife, then either compress the bread or scoop it out and reserve for other use. Make sure the cavity is sufficient for an egg.
  2. Place in a slice of cheese, lining the cavity.
  3. Crack an egg into the cavity.
  4. Spoon in some ham/bacon bits and chives.
  5. Top with a tbsp of shredded cheese. Season with salt and pepper as required. Replace sliced top.
  6. Wrap the whole bun in aluminum foil. You may refrigerate it at this point or bake straight away.
  7. Pop it into the oven for 15-23 mins, depending on how runny you’ll prefer the yolk and if the bun was refrigerated.
  8. Remove foil and serve immediately.
