Easiest Pulut Hitam

‘Pulut hitam’ or also known as bee koh moy (Hokkien) is a dessert made of black glutinous rice and coconut milk.
How about me telling you that you only need 5 ingredients and rice cooker for this well-loved dessert!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of Black Glutinous Rice
  • 3 cups of water
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 1.5 tbsp Brown Sugar ( you can use palm sugar)
  • 50ml Ayam brand Coconut Super light milk
  • 1-2 tbsp Coconut milk for topping

Method

  1. Rinse glutinous rice in rice cooker pot until water is not cloudy and runs clear purple. Soak for at least 4hrs, drain water.
  2. Add water and salt to rinsed glutinous rice.
  3. Set rice cooker to ‘Congee’ option or let it cook for at least 1.5hrs.
  4. Once cooked, it should look like creamy thick congee, Stir thoroughly and stir in coconut milk and brown sugar.
  5. Serve warm or chilled with a drizzle of coconut milk.
