Donburi (丼, literally “bowl”, also abbreviated to “-don” as a suffix, less commonly spelled “domburi”) is a Japanese “rice-bowl dish” consisting of fish, meat, vegetables or other ingredients simmered together and served over rice.

Sushi Rice
150g uncooked rice 170g water
1tsp salt
3tsp sugar
2tbsp rice vinegar
In this recipe are using mayo, tamago, broccoli, corn, ham, crabmeat and ikura
Rice Cooking Method
Measure the uncooked rice into a bowl or container.
Add plenty of water to wash the grain and drain
Rinse several times draining the water completely each time.
Let sit in a strainer for about 15 minutes to allow the water to drain
Pour the washed rice into the rice cooker and add water, 1 cup of rice = 1.2 of water, if possible let the rice soak for 10 – 20 minutes before cooking
Once the rice is cooked, allow it to steam in the covered pot or rice cooker to fully absorb all the water.
Sushi Rice Method
Let the cooked rice steam for about 20mins in the rice cooker or covered pot before adding the seasoned vinegar
Use a wooden rice paddle to gently mix the rice and seasoned vinegar
Quickly and evenly distribute the vinegar to coat every grain of rice
Cool with a fan when the rice vinegar has been thoroughly mixed in
Once the sushi rice is ready
Transfer it to a wooden bowl and cover with a tight wrung out damp cloth to retain the rice’s moisture. Use with 4 hours
