Shepherd’s Pie

By placing the pie into ramekins, it is easier to portion out and have a single serving each time! Shepherd’s Pie is an easy and well-balanced dish that can be eaten as a mid day snack or a meal in itself. Kids and adults both love this hearty dish of cheesy potatoes and meat!

Ingredients

100g minced beef
300g minced pork
6 prawns, deshelled (optional)
2 tbsp olive oil
1 onion, minced
2 tbsp minced garlic
2 bay leaves
1/4 cup frozen vegetables
100g tomato paste
3 tbsp plain flour
1 cup chicken/beef broth
1/2 cup cooking cream
2 tsp mixed herbs

Seasoning (to taste)
Salt
Pepper

Toppings
2 cups mashed potatoes
3/4 cup grated parmessan cheese

Method

  1. Set tefal multicooker to “Sauté/Sear” function for 20 minutes. Heat up 2 tbsp of olive oil, fry onion till translucent. Add garlic and bay leaves, sauté till fragrant.
  2. Add minced pork and beef, fry until cooked. Add mixed herbs followed by plain flour, stir and mix till it forms a roux.
  3. Add tomato paste and combine. Pour chicken broth and cooking cream, stir till thicken. Combine prawns and mixed vegetables, cook for 2 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. Place filling in a ramekins, top it with mashed potatoes and grated parmessan cheese.
  5. Lay a piece of baking paper or aluminum foil at the bottom of the pot to prevent scratching, put a steaming rack on it.
  6. Bake Shepherd’s Pie at 150°C for 20 minutes (Bake function) till the cheese is melted.
  7. You may use a kitchen torch to brown the cheese for an extra kick.
